The skies at night

Colchester - posted Oct, 17 2013

COLCHESTER- You can see a lot more than just the moon and stars in the night sky. Would you like to get started in the hobby of astronomy? Join amateur astronomer Alan Chaniewski on Thursday, Nov. 21, at Cragin Memorial Library for an introduction to backyard astronomy. Nothing is needed but your eyes! The session will begin with an informal class from 7 to 8 p.m., inside the Library and will include observation techniques and what can be seen in the night sky. Weather permitting, the talk will continue outdoors from 8 to 9 p.m., where you can use your new astronomy skills. Observation equipment will be available for use. Bring your questions about astronomy, telescopes, or what you have seen up in the sky. This is a free program suitable for adults and teens. No registration is required. For further information, please call the library at 860-537-5752.
