Mountain Man rendezvous
Colchester - posted Oct, 25 2013
COLCHESTER - All boys, ages 10 1/2 and older, are invited to the Mountain Man Rendezvous. Colchester Scout Troops 72 and 109 are hosting their annual outdoor adventure skills campout on Nov. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Ruby and Elizabeth Cohen Woodlands Park on McDonald Road in Colchester. Scouting-aged youth and siblings are invited. Throw tomahawks, shoot arrows with a certified instructor, learn survival and orienteering skills, tie knots/lashings, and see wilderness shelters and cooking demonstrations. Learn what it takes to be competitor in outdoor skills (and have fun). The Scouts will be demonstrating how to cook a turkey outdoors and how to cook a ham in a pit. They will also prepare several side dishes and do Dutch oven cooking. Also, several Scouting skills will be demonstrated throughout the day. This will be a hands-on event for all participants. Come ready to learn what it took to be a mountain man in the 1800s. Lunch will be provided; please RSVP. For details, contact Scoutmaster Steve Bradstreet at firstname.lastname@example.org, Tom Robbins at email@example.com, or Jeff Tassmer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
