'Honk! Jr.' performance
East Hampton - posted Oct, 28 2013
Podium Players will present, "Honk! Jr.," a contemporary retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s score that everyone will enjoy. This heartwarming and comical show follows the story of Ugly (Mason Cordeiro), whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family, including his father (Alex Balletto), and neighbors. Separated from the farm and his mother (Jenna Cordeiro), and pursued by a hungry Cat (Darien Kupec), Ugly must find his way home. Along his harrowing journey he meets memorable characters including Captain Greylag (Ryan Janowski), who leads a flock of geese, and the comical Bullfrog (Natalie Moon). Ugly not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms. The show is witty and hilarious, but also deeply moving. HONK! Jr. offers a lesson in individuality and acceptance for all ages and teaches the lesson that it is alright to be different. Directed by Valerie Bozzi, choreographed by Kim Cordeiro, and a cast of more than 40 youth from East Hampton and the surrounding towns, "Honk! Jr." will have you laughing, crying, and humming the tunes as you leave the theater. Performances will be held at East Hampton High School on Nov. 14, 15 and 16, at 7 p.m., and Nov. 16., at 2 pm. Tickets for general seating are $12; $10 for seniors and students. To purchase tickets in advance or for more information about the production, visit www.podiumplayers.org.
