Taste of India: cooking demonstration and samples

Salem - posted Oct, 28 2013

SALEM - Madhu Gupta will present a free Taste of India cooking demonstration with samples on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. Having traveled extensively throughout India before moving to the United States in 1999, Gupta will introduce Indian cooking techniques, highlighting the regional differences in spices, flavors and recipes. Sample a salad, an appetizer, a curry with rice, dessert and a beverage. Gupta learned from her mother how to prepare meals of only the highest standard in the art and techniques of the Ayurvedic principle. The love of spices is always at the heart of her cooking. Even though the word curry is synonymous with Indian food, she will demonstrate that Indian cooking is not always hot and spicy but that the flavor is determined by balancing the ingredients. Please register for this free program by contacting the Salem Library, 264 Hartford Road, Route 85, at 860-859-1130.
