REGION - A three-year, $130,000 grant to support efforts to counteract bullying and dating violence in area schools has been awarded to The Network Against Domestic Abuse of North Central CT by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. This grant will enable the Network to dedicate a full-time youth educator for area schools systems to help educate youth to create safer communities. The new position will meet the current, increasing obligations to the Enfield school system and expand The Network’s outreach and prevention education programming to school systems in the other five communities The Network serves in Somers, Suffield, East Windsor, Windsor Locks and Stafford. The Network office is located at 139 Hazard Ave., Enfield. The Network sees an increasing need to educate people about how to stay safe and sustainable in their communities. A youth educator will provide prevention education, particularly in the schools where children and youth need to be learning early and repeatedly about healthy relationships, dealing with emotions and dating/intimate violence prevention. The Network Against Domestic Abuse of North Central Connecticut assists families and individuals in our communities who have experienced domestic and interpersonal violence, educates to promote healthy relationships and advocates for safer communities. It provides court advocacy services in the Enfield and Rockville criminal court and community one-on-one counseling and support groups. The Network operates a 24/7 hotline and 15-bed safe home for women and children. All services provided by The Network are free. For more information visit www.networkagainstdoemsticabuse.org.
