Financial advice with fun

MANCHESTER- Capitalizing on Connecticut’s boom in handcrafted beer, a new evening series at Manchester’s MCC on Main hopes to draw young adults for beer samplings, sliders and a shot of practical money advice. “Beer, Burgers and Managing Your Bucks” will kick off from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Manchester Community College’s arts and education center located at 903 Main Street. The series will continue the second Wednesday of each month through May. Topics for the talks will include credit and debt management, investing, staying financially safe in today’s digitally-invasive world, tips on financing the “fun” things in life, and using personal-finance apps to stay in control of your money. Jenny P. Bergeron, a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Hebron, will be the series’ first speaker. Providing the beer for November’s “Beer, Burgers & Managing Your Bucks” is Back East Brewing Company in Bloomfield. The Thomas Hooker Brewing Company, also in Bloomfield, will be the featured brewery on Dec. 11. Admission to “Beer, Burgers & Managing Your Bucks” is $5 at the door.
