NORWICH- The William W. Backus Hospital has been named Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. Backus is one of eight hospitals in the state to be recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®, and is one of 1,099 hospitals in the U.S. to earn this distinction for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Backus was recognized by The Joint Commission for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions. Backus was recognized for its achievements in the following measure sets: Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and Surgical Care.
