Veterans' art exhibit

SUFFIELD - The Suffield Arts Council will display an exhibit of artwork in the Pinney Gallery of the Kent Memorial Library during the month of November in honor of Veteran’s Day. Featured will be work by members of the Veteran’s Art League of New England. The group is only a few years old, based in Wilbraham, and currently has several members from northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts. The show will consist of a variety of subjects in several media. The artists may be beginners or quite advanced. Membership is open to veterans and those currently serving in any branch of the service or reserves. Artforms, include painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, poetry and creative writing. The League hopes to provide an outlet for its members by providing opportunities to display their artwork, to develop or improve their craft, to develop friendships with fellow veterans, and to assist others. The show will open Nov. 4 and be on display through November. A reception, offering the general public the opportunity to meet with artist veterans will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. This show is made possible through the joint efforts of the artist members of the Veterans Art League, the Suffield Arts Council and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
