Be part of the Dazzle Light Parade
Putnam - posted Nov, 08 2013
PUTNAM- The Last Green Valley, Inc. (TLGV) has been named Grand Marshal of the 2013 Holiday Dazzle Light Parade in Putnam. The wonderful nighttime event will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1 (rain date Dec. 8). It will be the kick-off of the 20th Anniversary of The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. TLGV will have a float and launch the first Green Flash. The Holiday Dazzle Light Parade is a spectacular event with more than 120 brightly lit floats viewed by 20,000 spectators lining the streets. TLGV will be the first unit in the parade following the Color Guard and Master of Ceremonies, Gary Osbrey from WINY Radio. The parade starts at the monument on the corner of Grove and Ring Streets and travels to the terminus of Kennedy Drive at Providence St. For those who love The Last Green Valley, there is a way to enjoy a unique perspective of the Holiday Dazzle Light Parade. Reserve a spot in the Green Flash, an assembly of 200 people to walk with the TLGV float. A member of the Green Flash must be able to walk 1.5 miles briskly and to periodically chant “The Last Green Valley” and “It’s Where You Live” when cued by the Green Flash Coordinators! TLGV will provide a green safety vest for everyone to wear over their coats (dress warmly). The Green Flash members may also wear other forms of green or decorate themselves with green lights or glow sticks. Having 200 people walking in unison will add a dynamic element to the parade and show support for The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. This is a great opportunity for residents, businesses, scouts, youth groups and civic organizations to be part of the Holiday Dazzle Light Parade. Those wishing to be part of the Green Flash must register soon. There is a limit of 200 people for the Green Flash! Email Charlene@tlgv.org to sign up or call LyAnn at the TLGV office, 860-774-3300. Additional instructions will be emailed closer to the event – where and when to meet, parking advice, etc.
