A special basketball fundraiser for Troy Russell

Ellington - posted Nov, 12 2013

ELLINGTON - On Nov. 30, a special fundraiser will be held on behalf of Ellington High School senior and two-sport athlete Troy Russell. In August of 2012, Russell broke two vertebrae in his neck in a swimming accident. He has made tremendous progress during his rehabilitation and has served as an inspiration for an entire community. The Russell family is working to raise enough money to bring Troy back to a special facility in Baltimore which specializes in spinal cord injuries for patients 21-years of age or younger. The basketball fundraiser on Nov. 30 will play a part in helping the family achieve this goal. Please consider becoming a sponsor for the event. Sponsors will have their company or family name listed on the back of the tournament t-shirts provided to participants. All business sponsors will be highlighted and have their company logo prominently displayed on a special "Thank You To Our Sponsors" wall at the school on the day of the event. In addition, sponsors will also be recognized in a special half page "Thank You" ad in the December editions of "The Sports Department" newspapers. Sponsorship levels are: Gold - $100; Silver - $50; and Bronze - $25. Donations may be mailed to: Troy Russell Benefit Tournament, PO Box 746, Ellington CT 06029. Businesses and individuals may also become sponsors through the donation of an item for a raffle which will be held throughout the day. To make a donation to the raffle, email 3on3fundraiserfortroy@gmail.com to have one of the tournament volunteers contact you. The deadline for all donations and sponsorships is Nov. 24. Thank you in advance for you consideration and support and hope that you can help Troy and his family through this critical phase in his recovery.
