Take a winter boat cruise

Region - posted Nov, 15 2013

REGION- Connecticut River Expeditions and Connecticut Audubon are again partnering during February and March for their Annual Eagle/Winter Wonderland Boat Cruises on the lower Connecticut River. These ever-popular winter cruises will depart from Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam.   Weather permitting, cruises will start on Saturday, Feb. 8 and run through March 16.  These cruises are very popular and tend to sell out.  It is suggested that passengers book early to reserve their spot.   Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam is located close to Route 9, off Route 82, with plenty of free parking. It is across the river from the Goodspeed Opera House, just south of the famous East Haddam Swing Bridge. Gillette Castle is 4.5 miles away. The castle is closed this time of year, but, the grounds are open year round for visitors.   There are many unique shops and restaurants in Haddam, East Haddam, Chester, Essex and other surrounding towns, making the lower Connecticut Valley a destination in itself.   Please join Connecticut River Expeditions and Connecticut Audubon aboard RiverQuest for a fun, informative cruise while we search for the majestic Bald Eagle and other winter wildlife along the peaceful Connecticut River. In past years, sightings have included Bald Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, numerous hawk and duck varieties and seals. Complimentary coffee or tea and a limited supply of binoculars are available for use on the cruise at no charge.   Weekend and weekday times are available for these 2+ hour cruises. Gift certificates are also available.  For information and easy on-line reservations visit RiverQuest at ctriverquest.com, 860-662-0577.
