Take a walk

East Hampton - posted Nov, 18 2013

EAST HAMPTON- The Chatham Historical Society as part of its “Explore East Hampton” monthly series program is organizing a walking tour of the Hazen Tree Farm at 166 Lake Drive, East Hampton, on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. The walk is sponsored by the East Hampton Parks and Recreation Dept. Come for a walk in one of the many tree farms in East Hampton. The farm contains 77 acres of forests and three acres are used for growing white spruce trees. During the holiday season, the family also sells pre-cut Fraser Fir trees that are grown in another Connecticut tree farm. The walking tour will begin at a campfire where the Hazen family will tell the history of their farm. Then the group will tour the farm and walk up Joby Hill and visit the old Moses West barn foundation. The group will then return to the campfire and enjoy hot drinks. They will also be able to select and cut their desired Christmas tree. The tour will take approximately 1 hour. Heavy rain or snow will cancel the walk and be rescheduled on Dec. 8 at 1 pm.
