GLASTONBURY - Riverfront Community Center (RCC), 300 Welles St., Glastonbury, offering the following programs: Gingerbread House Festival on Monday, Dec. 9. Leave RCC at 11 a.m.; arrive at Wood Memorial Library at 11:30 a.m.; lunch at Applebee’s at 1 p.m.; and arrive back at RCC at 3 p.m. Cost is $7 transportation fee; lunch on your own. At the Wood Memorial Library, South Windsor, enjoy the spicy smell of gingerbread as it mingles with the cool fall air as it beckons the young and young at heart to enter and gaze upon row after row of beautifully decorated gingerbread creations. Regional artisans and bakers, both experienced and novice alike, show off their creative talents with a spectacular array of candy covered houses, trains, trees and in some cases entire villages and farms. Mistletoe Magic and Candy Cane Confections on Tuesday, Dec. 10, noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $4, special ticket required. Start your holiday season in high company with your friends at the RCC and the renowned husband and wife musical duo of Jeff and Anne Barnhart, also known as Ivory & Gold. After a special holiday lunch, the Barnharts will surely lift your spirits with seasonal music and stories. Anne is a classically trained flautist, while Jeff is a pianist/vocalist who enjoys adding humor and spice to their tunes. Be sure to wear your brightest holiday attire so that Santa will feel at home. Holiday Lights at Hubbard Park in Meriden on Thursday, Dec. 12. Leave Community Center at 4 p.m., return 6 p.m. Cost is $7 transportation fee. Sit back and enjoy the holiday lights reflecting off the moonlit pond and a spectacular display with 200,000 white lights and more than 300 lighted characters throughout the park. You will see displays in trees, on the pond and nestled in the natural habitat. Complete the celebration back at the Riverfront Community Center with hot chocolate, cookies and holiday songs. Snow date is Thursday, Dec. 19. Intramural Pickleball on Thursday, Dec. 12, 6 to 8 p.m., at Illing Middle School, Manchester.
