REGION- The United States Coast Guard Band Recital Series will have a free performance on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in Leamy Concert Hall at the United States Coast Guard Academy. The program features members of the U.S. Coast Guard Band performing music written for solo and chamber ensemble. The works featured in the afternoon performance range from the jazzy “Three Etudes on Themes of Gershwin” by Paul Harvey, to Arthur Kreiger’s work “Companion Start” for soprano saxophone and electronic sounds. This diverse program also includes Antonin Dvorak’s String Quartet No. 12 “American” performed by The United States Coast Guard Band Clarinet Quartet. This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. The Coast Guard Academy is located at 15 Mohegan Avenue in New London, CT. Leamy Concert Hall is accessible to the handicapped. Due to security restrictions, all visitors to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy must present valid state-issued photo ID.
