WINDSOR - Windsor Historical Society's eighth historic house tour will be on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets will be $20 in advance; $25 on the day of the tour. This community event takes many hands and minds to make it run smoothly. A kick-off planning meeting is being held at the Society on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. to review tasks associated with the tour. Come have some wine and cheese, bring a friend, find out more about it. Do you own an interesting historic home in Windsor from the 17th through the 20th-century? Would you like to put it on the tour? If so, or if you’d like more information to help you decide, please attend the meeting or contact Christine Ermenc at 860-688-3813 or At the meeting, we will be recruiting volunteers for the following tasks: chairs to contact homeowners, visit and choose houses, coordinate work of committees; research and write-ups compiling research notes on home architecture and early homeowners and writing descriptions for program book; volunteer committee recruiting volunteers for house tour day, organize and train volunteers; logistics committee writes travel and parking directions, place signs, assemble supply bags for each house for day of tour; program book ads committee obtains ads from local businesses; ticket sales contacts prior ticket sales venues and distribute tickets; and corporate and business sponsorships determine sponsor benefits, secure sponsorships. Society house tours have provided appreciative audiences with a great opportunity to see a sampling of Windsor’s historic homes and learn about the architecture of different time-periods. Planning committee members find that their work provides a great way to connect with the community.
