WILLINGTON - On Saturday, Dec. 7, stop by the Willington Public Library between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and visit the Holiday Bake and Craft Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The Friends will be in the Reading Room selling cakes, pies,cookies, candy and other home-made goodies. Downstairs in the Community Room 23, vendors will be selling their special handmade gifts. These will include jewelry, wood crafts, ornaments, baby blankets, knitted and crocheted scarves, wreaths, holiday decorations, aprons, blacksmith items and many more. This a a perfect time to start or finish your holiday shopping. On Saturday, Dec. 14, come to the Community Holiday Open House celebration in the library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be plenty of holiday cheer, a visit from Santa, a carol sing with the Hall Memorial School Chorus and homemade cookies provided by the Willington Willing Workers 4H Club. Please bring a food item to donate to our local food bank. On Saturday, Dec. 14, Willington Public Library and the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Assoc. will present a holiday author's event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Community Room. There will be 30 or more authors selling and signing their books. These authors will also be available to talk with the public personally about their writing. Four selected authors will each give a talk about their books to the audience. On Tuesday, evening Dec.17, at 6:30 p.m., in the Community Room join the holiday cookie swap. Registration is required for this event so please stop by the library before Dec. 5 and let us know what kind of cookies you will be making. All cookies should be homemade and from a single recipe. Please bring a copy of your recipe when registering. We will let you know how many cookies you will need to bake when you register. Christmas attire is encouraged but not required.
