Gingerbread House festival

South Windsor - posted Nov, 26 2013

SOUTH WINDSOR - Regional artisans and bakers, both experienced and novice alike, will show off their creative talents with a spectacular array of candy-covered houses, trains, trees and in some cases entire villages and farms, at Wood Memorial Library and Museum when it hosts its annual Gingerbread House Festival. From Nov. 29 to Dec. 15, the spicy smell of gingerbread will mingle with the cool fall air and beckon the young and young at heart to enter and gaze upon row after row of beautifully decorated gingerbread creations. Come see what they cook up this year for one of the largest gingerbread displays in all of New England. Wood Memorial Library and Museum is located at 783 Main St., South Windsor, and provides the perfect venue with holiday music playing in the background and a Gingerbread Shop, offering the chance to take home some of the magic with holiday themed gifts and treats. This event is free and open to the public. Make this a holiday tradition and come join the fun. Hours are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closing day of Sunday, Dec. 15, the hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 860-289-1783, email, or visit
