Downtown Manchester holiday events

MANCHESTER - The downtown Christmas tree-lighting will be on Thursday, Dec. 5, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the lawn of St. James Church, 896 Main St. Extreme weather will move the date to Friday, Dec. 6. Master of ceremonies will be sportscaster Scott Gray from WTIC AM. There will be a musical performances by the ensemble from the Manchester Citadel Band of the Salvation Army, Summit Singers and the Silk City Barber Shop Chorus. This years tree lighters will be Principal Diane Burns and students from Highland Park Elementary School. A community carol sing will precede the arrival of Santa Claus in a Manchester Fire/Rescue/EMS vehicle. There will be a guest appearance by Santa’s reindeer, Prancer and Dancer. And, of course, there will be the lighting of the Christmas tree. There will be hot chocolate compliments of the Salvation Army and a toy drive to Benefit Blue Angels Foundation.
