Memorial scholarships available

GLASTONBURY - The Federated Woman’s Club of Glastonbury has applications for GFWC/CT Memorial Scholarships, which are awarded annually to qualified Connecticut women to pursue bachelor or post-graduate courses of study in institutions of higher learning. To be eligible for the Phipps Memorial Scholarship, a female applicant must have completed two or more years of undergraduate work as of Feb. 10, and be matriculating toward a bachelor or post-graduate degree. The scholarship is for a maximum of $1,000, with up to 20 being awarded statewide. To be eligible for the Schoelzel Memorial Scholarship, a female applicant must have completed three or more years of undergraduate work as of Feb. 10, and be matriculating for a bachelor or post-graduate degree in the field of education. This scholarship is for a maximum of $2,000, with one being awarded statewide. Both awards require a 3.0 or better average in an accredited institution of higher learning. Grants are based on future promise, financial need and scholarship ability. Scholarships will not be for current or past year’s expenses. Completed applications, including general and personal information, financial statement, references and an official transcript of the most recent two years of undergraduate or graduate work, must be returned to the Federated Woman's Club of Glastonbury by Feb. 10.
