Holiday concert

ASHFORD - Babcock Library will host the Northeast Connecticut Community Orchestra for its Holiday Concert. Come to Knowlton Hall, 25 Pompey Hollow Road, Ashford, on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m., to enjoy this wonderful group of performers, led by conductor Yaroslav Tereshchenko. The program is free and open to the public. Knowlton Hall is adjacent to the Ashford Town Hall on Rute 44, in Ashford. The string orchestra is made up of amateur musicians ranging by age from 12 to 83 from towns throughout northeast Connecticut. Section chairs are Barbara Horn, of Ashford, on first violin; Michael Geigert, of Pomfret, on second violin; Jim Bump, of Putnam, on viola; and Kurt Kaufman, of Woodstock, on cello. Yaroslav Tereschenko is a virtuoso violinist from Ukraine who gives lessons at the University of Connecticut Community School of the Arts in Storrs.
