WINDSOR - The Annual Greater Hartford Handel’s Messiah Community Sing will be held this year on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 4 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Windsor. This Community Sing is part of the church’s Sacred Sounds Concert Series. Snow date is set for Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. This annual event, which features the singing of the Christmas-portion and “Hallelujah Chorus,” attracts as many as 100 participating singers in the chorus, as well as a full audience to watch and enjoy. The solo work is performed by a number of outstanding New England soloists. The sing is led by organist/Director Bob Gilbert. Any and all singers who are familiar with and have previously sung Handel’s "Messiah" are encouraged and invited to join us for this annual community sing. Singers are asked to arrive at 3 p.m. and be seated by 3:30 p.m., for instructions and warm up. Singers can bring their own score, or scores will be provided as needed. There is free admission for everyone and there is no need to register ahead of time. Singers are encouraged to wear holiday colors, or “come as you are.” Selections by the Trinity Ringers Handbell Choir, as well as a carol sing for the audience will be included in the program. A finger-food reception follows the concert. There is plenty of free and convenient parking and childcare is available. The church is located at 180 Park Ave., in Windsor (Exit 36 off I-91). Interested singers or audience are encouraged to call 860-688-9245 or email email@example.com for more information or visit www.tumcwindsor.org.
