THOMPSON- Thompson Recreation is offering T’ai Chi Moving For Better Balance. It is a simple t’ai chi movement and a complete program protocol. T’ai Chi Moving for Better Balance program is one of 14 Fall Prevention programs recommended by the CDC. This evidence based T’ai Chi Fall prevention program approach targets functional training for bilateral and unilateral stance (and transition), stepping forward, stepping sideways, stepping backward (gait and balance). Fall Prevention Training Protocol requires registration for 2 classes weekly for 12 weeks. We are offering two time frames for these classes. Classes begin Jan. 14, and are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Louis P. Faucher Community Room in North Grosvenordale. No previous experience is needed. Please wear loose clothing and comfortable shoes. The instructor is Laddie Sacharko. Register on-line at www.thopsonrec.org, stop by Thompson Recreation in Town Hall or call 860-923-9440. Pre-registration is required; we are unable to accept walk-ins at class. Early Bird Registration runs through Jan. 7. The Early Bird session fee for the 24 classes for Thompson residents age 60 and above is $72; for non-residents age 60 and above is $77; for Thompson residents age 59 and younger, the price is $96; for non-residents age 59 and younger is $101. For registrations received Jan. 8 or later, add $5 to the fees above. Financial assistance for Thompson residents may be available for this program.
