EAST HARTFORD - The East Hartford Parks and Recreation Department accepts program registrations online at www.easthartfordct.gov. Many programs will be available through online registration, however some programs will still require registration at the office. Call the parks and recreation office at 860-291-7160 for your user name and password. There will be a 3 percent convenience fee charged for using credit cards. Credit cards that will be accepted include Visa, Master Card or Discover Card. Winter Teen Indoor Soccer Tournaments - For sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at East Hartford Middle School, and seventh- and eighth-graders at St. Christopher or 2 Rivers Magnet School. Parks and Recreation-sponsored indoor soccer tournaments will be held in the East Hartford Middle School auxiliary gymnasium for East Hartford Middle School students in grades six, seven and eight and St. Christopher and 2 Rivers Middle Magnet Schools students in grades seven and eight. The winter tournaments will be held on Fridays from 3 to 4:30 p.m., on Jan. 10, Feb. 21 and March 14. Students must pre-register and have signed parental permission to participate. Students are to pre-arrange their own transportation from the school after the events conclude. The tournaments are free of charge. Adult Open Basketball - East Hartford High School adults 18 and over basketball at Dandley gym, and ages 25 and over in the auxiliary gym. When Eeast Hartford High School is unavailable due to school events, Goodwin School will be the alternative location. Basketball sneakers mandatory. All participants must complete a registration form the first evening they attend. Dates are Mondays and Thursdays, through Feb. 13, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at East Hartford High School gyms. Fee for drop-in is $2 for residents; $4 non-residents. Season pass is $20 residents; $40 non-resident. Low Impact Aerobics - get fit with low impact aerobics. Class incorporates a cardiovascular workout with minimal orthopedic stress. Evening classes meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the EHCCC gymnasium. Meets Jan. 7 through March 13; fee is $70 for 20 classes. Instructor is Margie Stickles. ZUMBA with Eliza’s Energy Source - ZUMBA fitness program is a way for you to get in aerobic shape through vigorous Latin dance. The program runs for 10 weeks and 20 classes. Please dress appropriately; bring a water bottle and wear sneakers or dance shoes. Class is held in the Sunset Ridge School gym on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m., from Jan. 2 to March 13, no class Feb. 18. Instructed by Eliza Kearse-Westberry and her Energy Source Team. Fee is $71 per 20 class session. Pilates with Eliza’s Energy Source - pilates blends strength, flexibility and balance exercises to improve posture and unite mind and body. This mat-based program creatively combines yoga, dance therapy and traditional floor exercises focusing on strengthening and toning the abdomen and back. Emphasis is on correct form and movement while using the mind to control the body. Participants must bring a mat and 10-inch play ball. Weights, tubes and bands are optional. Instructed by Eliza Kearse-Westberry and her Energy Source Team. Location is Sunset Ridge School cafeteria, from 7:15 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Jan. 2 to March 13; no class Feb. 18. Fee is $71 for 20 classes.
