WINDSOR LOCKS - Now in its fifth year, the very popular Girls Adventure and Leadership Series, G.A.L.S., empowers girls through group activities, teambuilding and adventure. This program provides skill building themes and activities that promote self-confidence, critical thinking, and support for many areas of girls’ lives. Activities include crafts, role plays, creative writing, interactive activities, and discussions. Topics include but are not limited to: relieving stress, trust, making good decisions, peer to peer relationships, self-esteem, healthy relationships, communication and friendship. Participants will have the opportunity to travel to the Stone Age Rock Climbing Gym, Springfield Museum and Library, and Northwest Park Nature Center for snowshoeing (weather permitting). The girls will also participate in an intergeneration project at the senior center. Program dates are during February vacation break, Feb. 18, 19, 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Town Hall. This particular series is for Windsor Locks girls in the seventh grade. The eighth-grade G.A.L.S. session will be will held during April vacation break. This program is sponsored by the Windsor Locks Youth Services Bureau. Donation registration fee is a check/money order for $25 (per participant) is required at registration. Upon successfully completing the series, participants will receive their check back at the end of the series. It is expected that all participants attend each day. If you are unable to attend the series, your check will be donated to the Youth Services Bureau. Please make checks payable to Windsor Locks Youth Services Bureau.
