29th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration

MANCHESTER - The 29th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, in Bailey Auditorium at Manchester High School, 134 East Middle Tpke. The event begins at 6 p.m., is free and open to the public. The event will feature a keynote address from Nicole Hockley, member of the Sandy Hook Promise and mother of Dylan Hockley, who was lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School; music from the amazing Manchester High School Jazz Ensemble; a performance by the Neighbors for Kids Afterschool Program; and much more. Awards will be given out to individuals/groups to recognize what they do on behalf of others in their community. This year’s theme is “How Would You Change the World?”. Dr. King’s five core values of Compassion, Courage, Inspiration, Integrity and Vision will also be highlighted throughout the evening.
