GLASTONBURY - The following are Senior Center activities for the month of January. The Riverfront Community Center is located at 300 Welles St., Glastonbury. For more information, call 860-652-7655. The following Lunch & Learn programs are open to Glastonbury residents and their guests. All programs begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. and reservations are not needed. If you want to come for lunch at noon, reservations are required and can be made by calling 860-652-7651 by noon one business day prior to the desired meal. Monday, Jan. 13: The Bad Guys are still out there. Learn the latest/newest scams targeting the elderly and how to avoid being victimized. Presented by: Agent James Kennedy, Glastonbury Police Department. Wednesday, Jan. 15: Glastonbury History as seen through the eyes of Susannah Welles. Come and hear about Susannah’s visit to the parson, which she and many others from Glastonbury made to celebrate the new year of 1808. Be transformed back to a simpler time. Thursday, Jan. 30: Medicare Hospital Observation vs. Admission - Many seniors on Medicare who go to the hospital and stay for multiple days are never formally admitted. Learn from an aging expert what this could mean for you or a loved one, including how to avoid ending up with a large bill if follow-up nursing home care is required.
