Creative writing workshop

MANCHESTER - The town of Manchester’s Neighborhood Academy is offering a free creative development workshop series for adult writers, published and unpublished. The Writers’ Support Group welcomes writers and would-be writers of all genres and levels of experience. Using, "Bird by Bird," Anne Lamott’s guide to the writing life, as a jumping off point, spend six weeks discussing (and learning to overcome) obstacles to creativity. Along the way, learn where to look for story ideas; why first drafts are supposed to stink; and how the hardest part of all is getting started. Each meeting will consist of a group discussion, followed by time to work on independent projects. Copies of "Bird by Bird" will be provided. Opportunities to contribute to "Better Manchester Magazine" may be available. This is for age 16 and over. Meets Mondays, Feb. 17 through March 24, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center, 153 Spruce St., Manchester (Old Spruce Street Firehouse). The Manchester Neighborhood Academy is an initiative of the town of Manchester Office of Neighborhoods and Families and its Academy Partners. All programs are free to youth and adults living, working, or attending school in Manchester. Detailed program brochures and registration information is available online at naf.townofmanchester.org For more information contact the Office of Neighborhoods and Families at 860-647-3089 or by e-mail to: email@example.com.
