South Windsor - posted Jan, 27 2014
SOUTH WINDSOR - On Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m., children ages 6 - 12 can create some very special Mexican Folk Art drawings with professional local artist, Shirley Mae Neu. Neu will share the history of Oaxacan wood carvings. Using her collection as inspiration, the students will learn how to draw these fanciful, colorful animals starting with shapes that are then filled with patterns. This lesson will encourage children to draw freely and imaginatively. All materials supplied. Snow date for this event is Sunday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m., if needed. Space is limited; registration is required. The fee for this workshop is $10, payable in advance. To register, visit the library or call 860-289-1783. Wood Memorial Library is located at 783 Main St., South Windsor. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday and Thursday. Wood accepts checks, cash, VISA or MC.
