ENFIELD—KidZ Sports will begin six weeks of basketball for kids in grades kindergarten through five the week of Feb. 10 at several elementary schools. Online registration and schedules are available at www.kidzsports.us. For the first three weeks of basketball all kids participate in scrimmages to build their basketball skills. In the final three weeks, kids will be split into teams and play a full game basketball each day. KidZ Sports begins right after school with a healthy snack in the cafeteria, followed by a 30 minute fitness program before basketball begins. All programs operate until 5 p.m. The program offers kids of all skill levels an opportunity to participate in a program that encourages teamwork and sportsmanship. The six-week sessions will be held at Enfield Street School for grades kindergarten through five on Monday; Eli Whitney, grades three through five on Wednesday; Henry Barnard School, grades kindergarten through five, on Thursday; and Hazardville Memorial School, grades kindergarten through two, on Friday. Students from Prudence Crandall School can join the Barnard program and Parkman students can join the Enfield Street program. Busing is available after school to the in-district schools for K-5 KidZ Sports. Students must be pre-registered to participate. The cost for KidZ Sports is $65 per child for a six-week session.
