Take a book, leave a book

TOLLAND - Spring is just around the corner, and the Tolland Youth Garden, a project of Tolland Garden Paths, is hoping to add a new addition to its community garden located adjacent to the ball field at Crandall Park. This organization, which provides programming for children and teens alike, offers opportunities for participants to not only plant and nurture vegetables, flowers, and herbs but also gain an awareness of the natural world around them and harvest fresh produce for local food banks and soup kitchens. The coordinators of Tolland Youth Garden are seeking service organizations, youth or faith-based groups, school clubs or classes, retired individuals or skilled woodworkers to build a Free Little Library for the garden. These waterproof, wooden structures with see-through doors hold donated books where anyone may stop by to pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. Free Little Libraries offer the community a gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. Any interested individuals or parties should contact Christine at 860-870-8324 or tgpyouthgarden@comcast.net for more information about TGP Youth Garden or Free Little Libraries.
