Jasper String Quartet concert

SOUTH WINDSOR - On Sunday, Feb. 16, South Windsor Cultural Arts is presenting the Jasper String Quartet in concert. Winner of the 2012 Cleveland Quartet Award and numerous other international competitions, the Jasper String Quartet (J Freivogel and Sae Chonabayashi, violins; Sam Quintal, viola; Rachel Henderson Freivogel, cello) has been hailed as “sonically delightful and expressively compelling” (The Strad) and as “powerful” (The New York Times). Based in Philadelphia, the quartet has been quartet-in-residence at a number of prestigious series and universities. They recently released two highly acclaimed albums featuring the works of Beethoven, Schubert and Kernis, and will digitally release Beethoven Op. 131 in 2014. The program will include Beethoven Quartet No. 14, Haydn Opus 33 No 3 and Britten Quartet No 2. This concert is at 3 p.m., at First Congregational Church, 993 Main St., South Windsor.
