ENFIELD - The Friday Films movie series theme for March and April will be “And the Oscar Nominees Are…” The series begins on Friday, March 7, at 2 p.m., with a movie based on the true story of Captain Richard Phillips (played by Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, which was the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. On Friday, March 21, at 2 p.m., will be Woody Allen’s 46th directorial effort. After everything in her life falls to pieces, including her marriage to wealthy businessman Hal, elegant New York socialite Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) moves into her sister Ginger's humble apartment in San Francisco to try to pull herself back together again. Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m., watch Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock), a brilliant medical engineer, on her first shuttle mission with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). The series will conclude on Friday, April 11, at 2 p.m., with a film that shares the harrowing account of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), born free in New York State, who was drugged, kidnapped, and sold into slavery in 1841.
