MANCHESTER - Award-winning author Patricia Hermes will be the featured author at a free event to be held at Assumption School in Manchester on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Hermes has written nearly 50 books for early middle grade through young adult readers. Her works include historical fiction of colonial America including books in the popular My America and Horse Diaries series. She also writes fiction for young readers. Her recent series, Emma Dilemma, for readers in grades three to five, offers tales of a large family and their domestic calamities that leave readers pondering issues of trust and responsibility. In her interactive presentation at Assumption School, Hermes will underscore key qualities of good writing and rewriting. She talks about how her books came into being and, with specific examples, shows the revision process. The event is the third in a series of author events hosted by Assumption School, which are designed to encourage reading, support local children’s authors, and showcase the school. The event will be held at Assumption School, 27 South Adams St., Manchester. Space is limited. Online pre-registration at www.assumptionschoolct.com is recommended, but not required.
