REGION- The United States Coast Guard Band Recital Series continues with a free performance on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Leamy Concert Hall at the United States Coast Guard Academy. The program features members of the U.S. Coast Guard Band performing the exciting work “Contrasts” by Béla Bartok, featuring MUCS Jonathan Towne on clarinet, and MU1 Robert Langslet on piano with special guest Kathryn Anderson on violin. On the alto saxophone MUC Joshua Thomas performs “Steady Study on the Boogie” by Christian Lauba. United States Coast Guard Band principal trumpet MU1 Thomas Brown will perform Prelude op.28 n.24 by Frederic Chopin. Also to be performed are compositions by Jacques Castérède, and Giuseppe Verdi. This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. The Coast Guard Academy is located at 15 Mohegan Avenue in New London, CT. Leamy Concert Hall is accessible to the handicapped. Due to security restrictions, all visitors to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy must present valid state-issued photo ID.
