WILLIMANTIC- Willimantic Whitewater Partnership’s Winter Celebration promises an evening of great food and music at the Elks on Saturday, Feb 22, at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 198 Pleasant St., Willimantic. Willimantic’s downtown has some wonderful restaurants, and Saturday night we’re offering a selection of signature dishes from some of Willi’s best venues. Prices and portions are intended to allow you to select from some or all of the restaurants. While dining, Bruce John will entertain us as only Cupid can (from 7-8:15 p.m.). The dancing will begin by 9 p.m. Donut Jones, a local favorite, plays covers from the 60’s to 2014: Music you know and like, plus some original material. Rock on! Work off some of those calories--hit the dance floor. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. Many people have tickets to the Romantic Willimantic Chocolate Fest Soiree and Cabaret, which was postponed from last week, so organizers are giving a $10 discount to anyone with a Soiree and Cabaret receipt. Yes, you can do it all in one night! All funds raised will benefit the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership, and efforts to create a Park, a hub for the East Coast Greenway and other walking trails, and a Whitewater Kayaking Park on Bridge Street in Willimantic. Most immediately, funds will pay for plowing the sidewalks. Then we’ll turn our attention to landscaping and paying off the mortgage. Tickets available at the Willi Food Coop, Cafemantic, the Harp on Church, or call 860-456-2188.
