Library gallery features work of Fran Milliken

Suffield - posted Feb, 26 2014

SUFFIELD - The Suffield Arts Council will present a display of work by West Suffield artist Fran Milliken during the month of March, in the show, “Influences.” Milliken, chairman of the Board of the Tobacco Valley Artists Association, having served as that group’s president for 10 years, is also a vice president of the Suffield Arts Council. In that capacity he has been responsible for scheduling art shows in the Pinney Gallery at the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield, for more than 10 years. This is his first one-man show, though his work has been on display in area art shows for many years. Milliken’s work is often photo-realistic, as he often prefers using pen and ink with watercolor to accentuate his paintings. Viewers will find landscapes, seascapes, architectural scenes, and other images that caught the eye of the artist. A Meet The Artist reception, open to the public, will be held on Thursday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the gallery. The exhibit opens March 4, and continues through March 28. It is made possible through the combined efforts of the artist, the Suffield Arts Council, and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
