Soccer club was on the road
The U.S. Youth Soccer organization celebrated Youth Soccer Month in September , and on Sept 25 they had “Wear your Jersey Day,” so the local soccer club figured they could also do the same.

Wednesday, Oct. 7, was designated as “Plainfield Soccer Day.” All the kids wore their Jerseys to school so that they to could display their pride and love of the game of soccer. There are few things that kids love more than their first jersey in any sport, and the ability to share that with friends and classmates is something that they will remember for a long time.
As far as the soccer itself, a big day had been planned for last Saturday and a full docket of games. Mother nature, however, had her own plans, and for the most part she won out. But…A few teams braved the weather and traveled to neighboring Brooklyn to compete against both foes. (The weather and the Brooklyn teams)
The Plainfield road warriors were opposed by some stiff Brooklyn competition and came away with only one win out of the five teams that played. It seems that the teams really like our home games and the home fans that support them.
Next week is a bye week for the Soccer Club, but they will be back in full force on Oct. 16, with a packed schedule that will have the kids and parents ready for some action. Hopefully it brings some good weather and an adjustment back to the winning ways that Plainfield teams have become accustomed to so far this season.
One last thing to mention is that the celebration of the kids and the league will be taking place in November with an awards banquet. Coaches will keep the parents informed of where and exactly when this will take place. You can also check out the newly-remodeled Web site for more information and to see the awesome pictures of the kids in action.
