The weather was perfect , and the crowds were enthusiastic as the Windsor Locks Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival made its annual appearance at Southwest Veterans Memorial Park on July 10 , 11 and 12 .

The carnival , which is a tradition in Windsor Locks , has been in existence for more than 70 yearsand draws thousands of people from all over Connecticut and from other states , as well .

The carnival , which is the main fundraiser for the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department , had more than 60 local and regional sponsors . The attractions included lots of food , drinks , games , Bingo and its two most popular events – fireworks and a parade .

The Friday night fireworks , which were presented by Atlas Pyrovision Productions of Jaffrey , New Hampshire , thrilled and delighted the audience , and the Saturday evening parade attracted fire departments from Enfield , Suffield , Bloomfield , South Windsor and Granby . Also included was fire-fighting equipment from Bradley International Airport and the hosts from Windsor Locks . The fire departments showed off their latest fire trucks , and some brought out their town’s own vintage fire trucks .
