Situated just across the green in the center of Colchester is Café on Main – a fantastic spot in which to dine , meet with friends , and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere . With amazing food and prices to beat , this restaurant is the perfect place for a date night , hanging out with friends , or for just popping in for a quick bite to eat during lunch hour .

I most recently visited Café on Main for a dinner meeting with business associates . We perused our menus , and were pleased to see that there were many delectable options from which to choose .

For an appetizer for all of us to share , we opted for the “ Buried Below , ” which offers the choice of house-made tortilla chips , potato skins , pub fries , sweet potato fries or tater tots , topped with cheese and three toppings . We opted for the tortilla chips with black beans , jalapeño peppers and chicken .

For our main meals , we were able to choose among steak , seafood , salads ( with multiple toppings of yourchoosing ) , traditional crust pizza , and “ Between the Bread , ” a section on the menu featuring gourmet sandwiches and burgers . There was even a “ Short Stuff ” section on the menu for children .

When the waiter returned with our appetizer , we ordered our main meals , which included the “ Fins and Fries ” ( fish and chips ); The Café Burger ( a home-style burger made with ground chicken , pork and beef topped with cheddar and American cheese , lettuce and tomato ); the Buffalo chicken wrap , and the eggplant parmesan sandwich . All of our meals were served with pub fries , a side that could also be substituted for sweet potato fries , onion rings or tater tots for an extra buck . A bowl of hot , homemade soup or dinner salad can be substituted as well for $ 2 , or a crock of French onion soup for $ 3 .

The atmosphere in this restaurant – whether it is a weeknight or weekend – is definitely a great one , and one that has youleaving the restaurant fully content .

Café on Main offers an impressive variety of wines by the glass and more than 26 beers on tap , which include seasonal , fan favorite , and regional brews . There are also several fun events , including live music , DJ entertainment and karaoke , NFL tickets , and holiday parties .
