MANCHESTER- The first annual Silk City Flick Fest is gearing up to have a great first year. With the amazing amount of incredible films we’ve received so far it has been hard not to include them all . To date nearly 20 submissions have been accepted , including international films from Australia , Holland , England , Spain and Afghanistan .

We are also very pleased with the amount of support we have received from Connecticut’s independent filmmakers . Not only is the SCFF designed to present the best independent work from around the world , but it will also serve as a platform for many talented local artists to get their name out into the community . Films for this four-day event are still being accepted .

In order to be included in the film festival , submissions must be postmarked by the late deadline August 7 . The Silk City Flick Fest is an independent endeavor designed to showcase the best in independent and student films . Beginning Oct . 8 with an opening gala , the SCFF will include special screenings , panel discussions and live demonstrations throughout a four-day weekend of community involvement and family fun . 10 percent of all proceeds from the Flick Fest will be donated directly to MARC , Inc .
