THE MIDDLE CLASS!
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
In response to “BEST TO BEAT OBAMA?” What? Obama cares about the middle class? What planet are you from? The amount of Americans not paying any taxes and yet, receiving tax refunds, is now at 49 percent. Who do you think is supplying the funds for all those takers? The middle class! Obama took over a car company and forced them to make cars no one wants, and then gave a $7,500 tax rebate as an incentive to buy the piece of junk. Only rich people who already own several real cars are buying them as a status symbol. Who is paying these rich people to buy a status symbol they can afford anyway? The middle class! And who is paying to manufacture the cars no one wants in the first place? The middle class! Who will end up paying down the debt Obama is increasing faster than anyone in history? The middle class! If Obama doesn’t stop wasting our money and admit he has a spending problem, there will be no more middle class. Raising taxes is not the answer: cutting spending is. The middle class cannot afford Obama much longer.

SMALL BARREL?
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
I have always thought that the idea of parallel universes some scientists believe exist was strange. After listening to the Republicans’ wild claims about Obama’s address, and the ravings from the Fox herd of sheep, not only do parallel universes exist, they are close and run by George Orwell, the Republican message generator. None of these wild-eyed extremists could possibly have listened to the speech Obama gave. It is becoming clear that they really live in a world where everything is reversed. Obviously, they are targeting those with little ability to reason. It is like shooting big fish in a small barrel.

GREAT SPEECH!

Obama did a wonderful job at his State of the Union address. I am proud that he is our president, and hopefully will be again. Keep up the good work! (reply)
TALKING POINT
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
I have asked a lot of those who refer to “government-run health care,” to explain exactly what that phrase means, but never received an answer. I believe they have no idea. They are just repeating a meaningless right wing talking point. The involvement of government is limited to insuring that policies sold actually provide coverage, and facilitating the establishment of health care pools where normally uninsurable people with pre-existing conditions can obtain coverage. For very poor people, the government may offer a subsidy – considerably less than Exxon/Mobil or GE receive. The government does not write insurance policies, collect premiums, give coverage, nor is anyone in government even aware of who is receiving care or who their doctor is. Every policy is issued by an insurance company; they collect premiums, pay claims and keep the profits. No government employee interacts with your doctor. (reply)
PITY PARTY!
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
In response to “EVERYONE!” Really? I’m not looking for a pity party. I am stating a fact. My husband could not get a free public defender because we own a house. He was told even though we had no money at the time and even though he was only collecting unemployment, we were considered rich compared to the people who do get free public defenders. Furthermore, we were told homeowners do not receive free defenders. Why? I don’t know. I was in disbelief. It was the first I ever heard of anyone being denied a free defender due to being a homeowner. In all actuality, the bank owned the home – we were still paying mortgage payments. So we didn’t actually own the home outright. (reply)
DON’T BITE!
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
In response to “HAND THAT FEEDS YOU:” What happens to the money that wealthy people are not taxed on? Is any of it going back to the economy in the form of more jobs or more purchased goods to create jobs? I would like to know. Do any of those profits go back to the public in the form of reduced prices? Although socialism means (to some) that your wealth and mine is shared with everyone, capitalism means that your wealth and mine is shared with the rich. So the wealthy should not be biting the hands that feed them. (reply)
GREATER THAN?

In response to “WHITE HOUSE APPROVED!” Did you ever think that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole, and the whole is collapsing? (reply)
GO, SARAH!
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
History has shown us whoever the journalists and pundits smear the most as incompetent presidential candidates are the ones who make the best presidents. Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan were derided as unqualified buffoons, yet they are two of the greatest presidents this country had. Barack Obama was touted as a genius, yet has proved incompetent and, quite possibly, this country’s worst president. Let’s see now, who do they hate and smear the most today? Sarah Palin. Therefore, Sarah Palin will be the next best president this country will ever have.

BIZARRE
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
To the folks with massive tattoos and piercings: Why deface your body with these bizarre images? Beautiful girls with such ugly tattoos all over your arms and chest, it is not as attractive as you may think. Certainly, in a few years you will question why you ruined yourself. You may also wonder why no one will hire you for a decent-paying job. Could it be that the images of skulls and the grim reaper smoking marijuana on your arms don’t appeal to future employers? RUINING IT!
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
Some drivers are so inconsiderate! We have a sign at the street that asks drivers to please not turn into the driveway. We just had our driveway resurfaced and the first night when the tar was dry, three people turned around. They could go to the end of the block and make a K turn. Now, again, these inconsiderate people are ruining our driveway. (reply)
PUNISH THEM
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
In response to “PAY THEIR SHARE!” You think that our problems are caused, not by the government spending (and wasting) too much, but by the rich not giving enough? Of course! So the solution must be to tax the rich more. Would you like to be rich? Who doesn’t want to have enough clothes to wear or enough food to eat? Who doesn’t like to take vacations? Who doesn’t want to enjoy life? Don’t you? That’s what I thought. Somehow it is okay if we want to be rich, but when someone else does it, it becomes a crime that must be punished – punished for providing goods and services that we all want and pay money to obtain. They are even punished for starting companies that grow and provide us with jobs and retirement income. They are now bad people because they have created our prosperity by elevating our standard of living. America is a country that exploded in innovation and wealth because it was the first free country on earth, and Americans have reaped the benefits. By third-world standards, even poor Americans are rich. Now you want to punish those responsible for our prosperity, which will end prosperity for all, because you think that is fair? (reply)
NOT LEADING AT ALL
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
In response to “WELL PLAYED!” They like to call it “leading from behind,” but actually, it is not leading at all. Playing golf while Congress tosses out a last-second deal that was probably read by no one, then leaving the 18th hole to go sign it, probably without reading it first, can’t even be considered leading from the golf course. We have no leadership in this country right now, from behind or anywhere else. He doesn’t even play golf very well. (reply)
OUTSIDER
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
It is strange how many people do not realize what disrespect to their intelligence Newt is showing. While bragging out of one side of his mouth about his role in balancing the budget, despite the fact that he and every Republican voted against it, claiming it would create a depression, he claims out of the other side he is an “outsider” and not a Washington elite. He lives in Alexandria, lobbied for the dreaded Freddie Mac while accusing the Democrats of helping the same group. The only place where Newt is an “outsider” is reality. (reply)
BOOTY WILL BE WASTED
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
We keep hearing about how the rich pay fewer taxes than their secretaries. Imagine you work hard, save your after-tax money and buy seeds to grow corn. You hoe the earth, plant the seeds, fertilize, water, drive off critters that would eat your plants and ultimately harvest 100 ears of corn. Then your neighbor comes by and steals 15 ears. Is that right? You see, most of the millionaires and billionaires all had to start somewhere to get to that 15% tax rate. And every penny they worked for and earned was taxed at rates far more than what their eventual secretary pays. So they put their earnings at risk in investments, which have no guarantee of payback. If they do well, they can then start taking growth capital out, but they have to pay a 15% capital gains tax. This, on top of all the taxes they had to pay on the original investment money. Kind of like the 15 ears of corn your neighbor stole... except, it is the federal government taking it and there is no recourse. At least you know your neighbor will eat well. The federal government booty will just be wasted.

NO MORE AMERICA?
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
In response to “BEST TO BEAT OBAMA?” I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that the reason Huntsman endorsed Romney is because they are both liberal progressives. Why would Huntsman endorse a conservative candidate who doesn’t agree with him? Huntsman and Romney are basically identical, not just to each other, but also to Obama. The only difference between Obama and the Republican liberal progressives is that the Republican liberal progressives tend to spend and grow the size of government at a slower pace than Obama – just like Bush, our last liberal progressive Republican president. So if you want to stick to the slow and steady progress of Obama, then vote for Romney. If you want this country to continue careening towards the cliff of destruction at breakneck speed, then stick with Obama. If you want your country to go back to being a free republic, then vote for a conservative. If you want someone who actually cares about the middle class, then vote for a conservative. Four more years of Obama and there will be no more middle class. Four more years of Obama and there will be no more America.

BRING IT ON!
Posted on Jan. 30, 2012
I am going to take a leap of faith and assume that most of you reading this are middle class. Have you ever heard the famous cliché, “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer?” I have since childhood, and I’m 64. So please tell me why people (see: Republicans) accuse President Obama of engaging in “class warfare.” He is fighting for the middle class and below. He is trying to make those who have made their money off the American dream pay their fair share and give the middle class a fair shake. He is fighting for us. His message is indisputable. If that is class warfare and the president is fighting for me and my fellow Americans, then bring it on!

UH OH!

In response to “DID YOU REALIZE?” Yes, Congress passes laws. Do you realize the laws Congress passes do not actually become laws until the president signs them? What you’re saying is: Obama signed this law Congress passed, thus making it a law, then he issued a signing statement saying he would not enforce this law he just made a law by signing it. He signed a law that takes away our freedom. Do you realize what that means? (reply)

In response to “HOPE AND CHANGE:” Technically isn’t writing that Speak Out a terrorist act? Hopefully you didn’t do it from a home computer because the Patriot Act could give up your IP address, which would help this particular Senate Bill 1867 come detain you for speaking ill of the government. Also, don’t you dare talk about installing a new government or overthrowing the current government, because that is treason and is still punishable by hanging.
