I find it crazy that our government is putting so much pressure on Fox News. If you don’t like Fox, change the channel! Does our government realize Fox News is a business? If the people on Fox don’t get the ratings they get fired, it’s that simple. This isn’t NPR, it’s a business and our government needs to stay out of it. They have their hands in too much already!

Stay home. Don’t know if it’s H1N1 or not? Stay home. Whether you have the seasonal flu or H1N1, the treatment is the same: Rest, fluids, and more rest. There is no prize for having H1N1. There is no badge or ribbon to wear. Going to the ER to confirm you have H1N1 only costs you money in co-pays and time in a waiting room. Stay home, so you aren’t spreading the germs to everyone else.

In response to “PRINCIPLES” : Apparently , you were not aware of our country’s image abroad before Obama... Bush really managed to just about totally destroy it. What’s happened now is that we have a president who has given tremendous hope for solidarity with all the countries, as well as his huge agenda for correcting the problems he was left with when he became president. I suggest you follow the news a little more closely and watch something other than Fox.

In response to “UPSET” : Any child born in the U.S. automatically acquires U.S. citizenship, even if the child’s mother was in the U.S. illegally. Also, even though child is born outside the U.S., the child automatically acquires U.S. citizenship if at least one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of the childbirth.

If there was ever any doubt about media bias, it was settled recently in the amount of media coverage of two separate marches on Washington. The “Tea Party” march was promoted for weeks on Fox News and got wall-to-wall coverage there. The other networks also devoted significant coverage of this “9/12” event. Most estimates have the crowd there at 50,000 to 75,000. A few weeks later, there was a gay rights march on Washington, D.C. It was attended by about the same amount of people. Yet, there was almost zero coverage of this march on the networks, despite it being just as well attended. I think that should close the case and prove the media is biased towards Republicans.

In response to “UPSET” : Nowhere in the Constitution (and I have a copy of it) does it say that the president of the U.S. must be “born in the country to two parents who are citizens of the country.” Anyone who is born on U.S. soil (like Obama, born in Hawaii) is a “natural born citizen.” How can you say President Obama has “foreign allegiances” and is a “foreign usurper” ? Because his father, who left his American mother when Obama was 3, was a Kenyan doesn’t mean Obama has any allegiance to Kenya! Upset? You bet I’m upset over such overt bias against our president!

When will the town realize that sharing sports equipment is not safe? My son had lice three times from sharing baseball helmets, and it could have been prevented. Now we buy his own, but it should be mandatory for everyone. You should get it with the uniform – I mean, we pay enough! Isn’t it worth it to keep our kids healthier and safer?

In response to “UPSET” : The family’s birth records are sealed by the governments in the U.S. and Kenya, his medical records are sealed, and all of his entire educational records are sealed. What is he really trying to hide?

I had the opportunity to live in a city that installed seat belts in its school buses, for safety of the children, several years ago. The belts were removed three weeks after they were installed, as just a few too many kids quickly learned they could use the belts and buckles as weapons on other children. So much for safety.

In response to “PROUD” : Racial peace within our borders? Obama has done more to set back race relations than any president in modern history. Note the Cambridge situation, accusing the police officer of “acting stupidly” without having all the facts. Give me a break.

In response to “CAN’T DO IT ANYMORE” : You seem to conveniently leave the state legislature out of the equation. They not only voted to raise the fees you talked about, but also the fees at the Motor Vehicle Department. At least in that case, Gov. Rell was “Republican” enough to veto those increases. Face it... you are in a liberal state, with a liberal legislature and a fairly liberal governor. Get used to higher taxes, higher fees and anything else to increase the size of the government trough.

In the official FEC report for July through September 2009, Obama’s campaign organization, “Obama for America ,” reports having paid more than $314,000 for legal fees. I wonder why the new occupant of the White House needed to spend this kind of money on lawyers . His chief lawyer is Robert Bauer, husband of Anita Dunn, the Mao-Tse Tung admirer. Do you get it yet?

It has reported that Michelle Obama stated at a fundraiser in 2008 that her husband’s mother was “very young and very single” when she gave birth to Obama. That contradicts Obama’s story that his parents were married when he was born. It turns out that Obama’s father was already married to a Kenyan woman and had four children with her. That means that he was a bigamist, and Obama doesn’t want us to know this. There are most likely many other things he doesn’t want us to know, such as where he was born.

In response to “WON’T OPERATE” : Not paying taxes isn’t the answer. You’ll wind up arrested. Government is made up of elected... that’s E-L-E-C-T-E-D , officials . If they’re not capable of doing their job, don’t vote for them!

In response to “OUR SERVANT” : You need to go back and retake civics. In a dictatorship, the people don’t have a choice about what they do – it’s controlled by a single person or small group of people. It’s a government controlling people who have no say in how they are governed. JFK’s point was valid then, and it’s valid now. Our society has a sense of entitlement that needs to change. We should be working together for the greater good – volunteering, giving to charity... what have you. JFK, Obama... any president for that matter, is a servant leader. They help set the direction – it’s up to us to help carry it out as a society.

In response to “CHECK YOUR FACTS” : The Democrats are increasing Medicare premiums by 15 percent in the year 2012, as well as cutting Medicare services. The writer had the facts right, just not the year. As hard as this may be for you to understand, Bush had absolutely nothing to do with it. You see, Bush is not president right now, nor will he be in 2012. Perhaps bashing someone besides Bush isn’t such a bad idea.

In response to “SCARY THOUGHT” : If a bus were to catch fire, then that would be a pretty awful accident. I think that I would take my chances and rather have a seat belt in an event of a fire. I mean, kids these days unbuckle themselves in the car at age 2, never mind a school-aged kid. I think they could even make an emergency release button in certain emergencies. I think every kid should be buckled up. I also have heard of the handicapped ones having seat belts. Well, that makes no sense. These are kids in wheelchairs, and what if theirs caught fire? Why do they have seat belts, but the large buses don’t ? Scary to imagine, but I think it’s time to put seat belts on for the safety of our kids. I mean, with all the bus accidents, it is needed. People cut off buses every day, and it’s time they make it mandatory ! Make a button light up if anyone unbuckles a seat belt so a chime will go off. Time for some rules to follow!

Well, all you veterans, railroad workers , seniors and people with disabilities collecting Social Security income… you won’t be getting your COLA next year, thanks to Mr. Obama and whoever is behind him. Medicare premiums rise this year and next year, as with our Medicare Part D plans. If you aren’t going to give us a yearly raise, then don’t raise our health care costs! If you want to cut costs, then cut the military and other useless grants that our country can’t afford, not the Social Security we rely on to pay our living expenses!

In response to “LIP SERVICE” : Public airwaves are regulated by the FCC and are supposed to be for the benefit of all Americans. The White House pointing out that Fox News is a partisan political organization is not an attempt to shut them down, it is just stating a fact.

In response to “REQUIRED” : Did you ever notice the difference in sizes of kids on just one bus? A seat belt for an older child would strangle a younger child. If there were adjusting seat belts, would you complain about the cost of installing them? I am sure your voice would be one of the first in opposition to the added cost and taxes. It is unfortunate buses can’t be made safer, but the safety rate for school buses is very high. Would you demand a seat belt for your child on a public bus or a train? You wouldn’t give it a thought. I would not want my grandson strangled by a seat belt he was required to use, would you? A solution would be to have a bus pick up only children of one height, thus increasing the number of school buses needed every day.

In response to “ALL WRONG” : You don’t seem to be well-versed on current history. So what if he doesn’t like Fox News! He has a right to his opinion and saying what he likes or doesn’t like. It is a freedom we all have. You also don’t seem to want the facts on health care reform. There are a lot of truthful articles out there, but I don’t think you would be interested in those.

In response to “WHO IS FOOLING WHO?”: As someone who has raised three teens, I can only say one thing to you... become a parent! You are the adult, so lay down rules. If the rules are not followed, then impose restrictions and curfews. It doesn’t seem very hard to pull the wool over your eyes if you have to ask if he is doing it.
