Speak Out

OUT OF LINE!

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “SHOULD BE ON THE DECLINE!” I do not know what town you live in. However, 67 percent of any town’s budget for education of children is way out of line! Those students are not taxpayers and the remaining 33 percent of the town’s taxpayers should not be expected to foot the burden along with the parents of the 67 percent who do have students... if they pay taxes. The total scope of needs of the town should be divided equally and thus funded. Who are the idiots running your town? (reply)

SOLUTION OR PROBLEM?

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “AUTOCRATIC RULER:” We already have one, he’s called Barack Obama. But that is the problem, not the solution. (reply)

TIME TO RETIRE

Posted on May. 16, 2012
I work for a large company. There are more than 500 employees; however, 50 of them are retirement age, over 65 years old, and the oldest is nearly 90. Why can’t these people move over and let the young and unemployed get a job? It’s time to retire. (reply)

MAKE IT A LAW!

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “FACEBOOK REVIEW:” This is a great idea – people who drink and party outside of work don’t deserve a good job. I hope the government makes this a law. (reply)

ODDITIES

Posted on May. 16, 2012
I am well past the age of retirement and was brought up in a small town in Connecticut. In my family, animosity towards other religions and races did not exist. We looked forward to learning and meeting each new culture that entered our lives. To us it was like a traveling adventure as we met and learned of our new neighbors. If our family could learn and be friends with “new” cultures to us, why can’t others? Don’t think that we were oddities. (reply)

SMALL PRICE

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “LIKE, YAY!” This is serious. My 20-year-old daughter attending college is like YAY every time she orders birth control and pays for it out of pocket. She is like YAY, I am not strapped down with a child I am not ready to care for. YAY, $20 a month guarantees an undisrupted college education. YAY, she can establish her career and have children when she is ready to provide for them. Seriously, she is very relieved when her birth control arrives in the mail every month. Young people need to think about what they spend their money on, considering they don’t have potential to earn much without an education. Twenty dollars is a small price to pay to put off a family until the timing is right. (reply)

NOT LEGITIMATE

Posted on May. 16, 2012
So there’s Bill Clinton shilling for President Obama in a commercial, saying how brave Obama was to kill bin Laden, because if any of those Navy SEALS went and got themselves killed, why, that would have been just terrible for Obama. Not terrible for the SEALS or their families, terrible for Obama. All the news programs are celebrating Clinton’s involvement in the Obama ad. All of them except one. CBS did a “60 Minutes” show Sunday night detailing President Clinton’s failure to kill bin Laden when he had ample opportunity to do so. CBS was the only news channel, besides Fox News, that did not lie in their Martin/Zimmerman case coverage. Looks like the White House is going to have to add CBS to their list of news stations that are “not legitimate.” (reply)

RATE WENT DOWN!

Posted on May. 16, 2012
Last weekend alone 409,300 people nationwide lost their unemployment benefits because their benefits expired. This probably isn’t very good news to 409,300 people, but it is great news for Obama. Those people will no longer be counted as “unemployed,” so Obama’s unemployment rate will go down again! The more people booted off the benefit roster, the lower the unemployment rate. It just goes to show what a good job Obama is doing at bringing down unemployment. (reply)

NEVER DO?

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “WHAT THEY DESERVE:” Connecticut teachers are the highest-paid teachers in the nation, except for I believe Hawaii and New York. Google it! That is greed. And more money does not ensure better education. Parent involvement is necessary as well as teaching skills. Many people are losing their jobs and homes, and the teachers want their great benefits and salary increases. We all have to give up something in these terrible economic times. The teachers never, ever do! (reply)

PRONOUNCED AND PROFOUND

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “CAVEMAN:” At least corporations make jobs and most pay taxes. Many single parents, especially women, often spend years on welfare –producing more children and adding to the social services burden. With these single moms come the live-in boyfriends, drugs, crime, alcoholism and more. You need to spend some time in a cave to realize the problems associated with single parents – especially teen moms and single moms on welfare – are far more pronounced and profound than your tirade against corporate welfare. (reply)

OPEN YOUR MIND

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “FOR THE CHILDREN:” I am a professional teacher and I am good at what I do. I have invested a great deal of time and my own money into my education, all so that I can be the best teacher I can be. I work 10-hour days and additional hours on weekends so that the kids that I work with will have a quality experience. (When do you suppose all the intensive planning and preparation for class takes place? While I’m teaching during the day?) There are thousands more like me – better than me, and, yes, not as good as me. Are there differences among police officers, politicians, doctors, lawyers? Are they all equally as good at their professions? Please open your mind to the complexities of teaching, and know that the vast majority of teachers are great at what they do. (reply)

GET A LIFE!

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “PREVENTION:” Anyone complaining about our highways not being beautiful anymore due to tree trimming really needs to get a life! (reply)

KEEP IT IN THE BACK YARD!

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “TAG SALE TROUBLE:” I agree, but I also think that tag sales should be held in people’s backyards because they are huge eyesores. While people should be allowed to advertise tag sales on their own property in their front yards, the junk they are selling should be displayed in their back yards. (reply)

A MOVIE?

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “HOW LONG?” Pretty soon it will be illegal to not commit a crime, and then us law-abiding citizens will be the criminals. This is starting to sound like a Vin Diesel movie! (reply)

WHAT A MESS

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “LIFESTYLE!” Americans are leaving this country to go to Cuba all the time. Try changing the channel from your left wing news networks and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Maybe if the president’s health care reform and “junk food laws” never existed, we wouldn’t be in this mess. (reply)

CLOSER LOOK

Posted on May. 16, 2012
In response to “BEWARE OF THE CYCLISTS!” Maybe we should take a closer look at these bicycle laws. This country is so great because of the trucks and cars we can drive, not because a few tree-huggers want to ride bikes in the middle of the street without a helmet. Let’s leave the “retro” vehicles for the children’s playground. (reply)

BIASED

Posted on May. 16, 2012
The news media hammered Romney for saying that he consulted his wife about the economy, and yet Obama said he consulted his daughters about same-sex marriage and there is no criticism. Tell me the news media is not biased. (reply)

ALL TALK?

Posted on May. 14, 2012
Why is it that politicians only say what they want people to hear during an election year? Is Obama’s recent personal statement about marriage a political tactic to stir up additional support? Romney isn’t any better with his comments. It’s hard to focus on the real issues when we are all human and connect with important topics that are important to us and they know just what to say. Not sure if it’s avoidable, but you never really know if what they say is what they really mean or just what you want to hear. (reply)

GO FOR IT!

Posted on May. 14, 2012
In response to “PROM BLUES:” If you want to go to your prom, do it! That moment is about you, and you do not need a boy to make it special. Yes, traditionally everyone has a date, but for my senior prom I went with my girlfriends and we had a blast. If you want to ask a guy out, do it! Nothing says you have to wait around to be asked. You may regret not going if you wait for someone else, so take the initiative. Get dressed up and have a blast! Don’t be afraid to go against the grain... this is your moment. (reply)

THEIR OWN MONEY

Posted on May. 14, 2012
In response to “FOR THE CHILDREN:” Unions are very important. They insure that upper management and shareholders do not line their pockets with money, while the workers struggle to feed their families. We certainly can’t have the greedy taxpayers keeping some of their own money. (reply)
