Speak Out
LETS BE SPECIFIC
Posted on Apr. 25, 2013
In response to “TIRED OF IT”: Let’s be specific tired of it. Who told you that you cannot voice your opinion? Please tell us who told you that you cannot have a point of view. No one I’m certain. I think perhaps you just might be lashing out at those who have a different point of view on same sex marriage or whatever else you are speaking of and you are confusing that with not being allowed to express your opinion. If I am wrong then please feel free to write and tell us who told you that you can’t speak your mind? (reply)
DUH!
Posted on Apr. 25, 2013
In response to “PRESSURE COOKER”: What an ignorant and thoughtless suggestion. You have to know how to make the materials for this; for guns all you have to know is how to pull the trigger. Duh. (reply)
NOT ENOUGH
Posted on Apr. 25, 2013
In response to “PLAIN AND SIMPLE?”: But, if we send all the illegal aliens back to their country of origin, there won’t be nearly enough people left to vote Democrats into office. (reply)
COWERED AND DISARMED
Posted on Apr. 25, 2013
I can’t help but wonder how safe those Waterford residents felt as they cowered behind closed curtains, disarmed by their own government, while a madman who couldn’t care less about gun laws was running around their neighborhood, illegally armed. Do you think they all called 911 in order to feel safe? And, I might add, it was government incompetence that allowed these madmen to roam our country free in the first place. Russia warned us that suspect #1 had ties to radical jihadists, but our government was much too busy making sure no law-abiding citizens can get a semi-automatic gun to bother deporting Islamic terrorists who want to kill as many Americans as they can. JUST CURIOUS
Posted on Apr. 25, 2013
I am curious about these new gun laws and that universal background check. What if the background check uncovers the fact that you are an immigrant and Russia has warned that you may be an Islamic terrorist? We now know for a fact that will not get you deported from our country, arrested, or even watched closely. Will it prevent you from getting a gun? Just curious. (reply)
STIFF PENALTIES
Posted on Apr. 25, 2013
Since the legislature in Connecticut has decided that capital punishment is no longer appropriate we have had situations in Newton and Boston where a reasonable person might consider capital punishment to be an proper sentence. In Newton the perpetrator made the issue a moot point but if the situation in Boston had happened Hartford we would now be wondering if the legislature made the right decision. Fortunately in Boston the accused is being charged with federal offenses where capital punishment is still an option. In Connecticut we passed a law that was little more than a “feel good” law that didn’t recognize that sometimes stiff penalties are sometimes appropriate. (reply)
MATH CLASS
Posted on Apr. 23, 2013
In response to “JOIN THE ARMY”: I hate to break it to you, but every gun has the capability of firing 30 rounds. Instead of having one 30 round magazine, just use two 15 round ones. It’s that simple. Instead of me joining the Army, maybe you should take a first grade math class. (reply)
CONJURED UP
Posted on Apr. 23, 2013
One of the two Chechen terrorists who carried out the Boston bombings should have been deported a year ago after a criminal conviction, but apparently the Obama administration didn’t think he was much of a threat. Will the Boston bombing victims and their families be flown to Washington, DC in Air Force One to publicly weigh in, with the same moral authority as the Sandy Hook props, on the nation’s failed immigration system and its refusal to “profile” or better monitor individuals prone to “radicalization?” The link between lax immigration enforcement and terrorism is far greater than the false association and victim exploitation the Democrats conjured up after Sandy Hook.

OVER THE BORDER
Posted on Apr. 23, 2013
Okay, so I have this military style cooking pot, and based on the recent bombing in Boston, am I now going to have to register the pot? Is it possible that I’ll need to reduce the inside of the pot to contain 3 chickens because it was designed to cook six? And lastly, can I take my cooking pot across state lines when I visit my family for dinner in New Hampshire?

NOT RIGHT
Posted on Apr. 23, 2013
Where do our Democratic elected representatives get off telling us we only need ten bullets to protect ourselves and defend our homes? The Boston and Watertown police spent 200 rounds in order to get “suspect #1” and his brother got away! It took trained police, who were not dealing with an unexpected attack, who were not roused from a peaceful slumber, who were not worried about their wives and kids in the next room, some 200 rounds to kill one dangerous man. Then we come to find out that didn’t kill him, it was his brother running over him with a car during his escape that finished him off. But we the people only need ten rounds. I don’t think so! IN YOUR MIRROR
Posted on Apr. 23, 2013
In response to “LOBOTOMY”: The first thing my father taught me about a .22 rifle is that it’s not a toy! And no firearm should ever be treats as such. Anyone who treats any firearm as a toy is a threat to themselves and our society. The answer to why lawmakers create gun laws is in your mirror. (reply)
COMPLAINING
Posted on Apr. 23, 2013
In response to “MAN IN THE MIRROR”: I get tired of people like you suggesting that people should leave this Country because they don’t go with your way of thinking. As far as Americans being cold-hearted, I couldn’t disagree more. You sound very bitter so maybe there’s a bigger story behind your comment. But, I was born in this Country, I work and pay taxes as expected and I vote. If I don’t like the way things are being run in my Country, I will complain, my friend. And right now, I am complaining. PRESSURE COOKER
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
It appears that bombs like those used in Boston are placed in pressure cookers and that this method is used throughout the Middle East. I would then suggest that background checks be required prior to purchasing a pressure cooker. They also cannot be sold at shows or transferred between family members without special permits or license, and cannot contain more than 30 fluid ounces.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE?
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
Illegal immigrants. Plain and simple, unless they are working toward citizenship and have proof, send them back. I’m an American born here, and I have a hard time finding a job because all the illegals are getting my job. We’re thinking about giving them driver’s licenses? Rest assured they will not have insurance, so when one of them hits me, I’m stuck. Send them back. I don’t care where, just send them back and give the true Americans first rights.

JUST IGNORANT?
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
In response to “MISINFORMED:” “Long guns” are a specific category of firearms that includes rifles, shotguns, muskets and any other gun designed to be braced against the shoulder when fired. Another category of firearms is “handguns.” The actual lengths of the barrels of long guns are subject to laws in various jurisdictions. Connecticut laws may define long gun length differently than other states. You called someone misinformed and ignorant for using the proper term for long guns after claiming you can get a fully automatic sub-machine gun that is smaller than some handguns. No, you can’t. Automatic weapons are illegal in Connecticut, and extremely difficult to get anywhere in this country. You clearly don’t know anything at all about firearms. Are you willfully misinformed, or just ignorant?

TIRED OF IT
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
I am really tired of being told how to act and how to feel. I have no right to not approve of sexual lifestyles. I have to agree with same-sex marriages? No, I don’t. I have no right to express an opinion that may differ from the norm. I have no rights left. This is supposed to be the free America? Don’t think so.

OPEN LETTER
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
This is an open letter to whoever is responsible for the bombings in Boston. Are you proud of what you’ve done? Did you enjoy hurting and killing innocent people? What of the 8-year-old child you killed? Do you have a child of your own? Did you spend time with your family and then sleep well? I hope so, because it is the last night’s peace you will have. You have made enemies of us all, and we will hunt you down like the cowardly dog that you are. Think not? Ask bin Laden or Hussein. Do yourself a favor and turn yourself in now!

NEW BAN?
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
Boston bombed. I don’t understand. Bombs are illegal. How could this happen? We pay enormous amounts of tax dollars for homeland security, subject our citizens to metal detectors and body scanners, have commercials about “See Something, Say Something,” are putting all kinds of laws on the books about guns and wiretapping, and have put cameras everywhere, and still something like his happens. All I see here is Americans losing not only their freedom, but also our ability to defend ourselves. Be prepared, as the banning or licensing of pressure cookers and ball bearings becomes the law.

TARGETED
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
The terrorist attack in Boston was a very loud message to our leaders in Washington. While you’ve been targeting the innocent, the monsters have been allowed to flourish. While Congress and our hapless commander-in-chief have been violating the Second Amendment and attacking law-abiding U.S. citizens, terrorists have been free to do as they like. Will President Obama fly the families of those killed in Boston to Washington to demand the U.S. do something to protect its citizens from terrorists? Of course not. You never go after monsters. Instead, you target people like me.

SAD
Posted on Apr. 22, 2013
It’s a sad country we live in when our elected officials use re-election possibilities as a means of determining how they will vote. Rather than do what is right, they do what will get them re-elected: not necessarily the same thing. That’s sad – really sad. (reply)
